Iron Butt 1000
As a major fund raising event SCUK is organizing an Iron Butt Ride in support of Mouth Cancer. Trent & Jan will be organizing the run that will take place over the weekend of June 21st and 22nd.
The route has been filed with the Iron Butt Association and is estimated at 1,060 miles and must be completed within a single 24-hour period.
We will start at the St. Luke’s Cancer Centre (Royal Surrey Hospital) and leave at 11:00. If all goes to plan we will be back at the hospital before 11:00 the following day.
The scenic route will take in most of the major motorways and trunk routes all the way to Perth (Scotland) and back.
Hopefully each rider will be able to attract some sponsorship, as the twin aims are to fulfill an ambition and raise money.
The route is not a race and is broken into legs of between 100 and 120 miles (1Hhr 30 Mins – 2Hrs) followed by a stop of 20 or 30 minutes.
If sufficient riders want to take part then we will split into several groups for ease of ride management.
Estimated costs:
£150 per bike for fuel and accommodation (there will be a 4 hour break!)
